The Clean Energy Regulator is a Commonwealth owned agency in charge of legislation that promotes the use of renewable energy sources, and minimises the use of greenhouse gases. The agency administers the following to help promote renewable energy investment and reduce carbon within Australia: Emission Reduction Fund: Offering motivation to those who take on practices that minimise their carbon emissions. National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme: An Australia-wide framework for communicating and dispersing company information regarding carbon emissions, and how to manage emissions. The scheme was established under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007. Renewable Energy Target (RET): Encourages further electricity use to come from renewable sources.
